AI Empowers Industrial Design and Smart Rail Transit Industry Development Conference Held in Changchun

Attendees included Ling Wen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Zhu Hongren, Secretary of the Party Committee, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Enterprise Confederation/China Enterprise Directors Association; Liu Ning, President of the China Industrial Design Association; Zhu Xinyuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology; Yang Mingming, Deputy Director of the Science, Technology, Quality and Informatization Department of CRRC Group; Sha Miao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd.; Zhang Quanyong, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and other leaders. Also present were leaders and heads of design disciplines from more than 30 universities including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Jiangnan University, China Academy of Art, Southern University of Science and Technology, Beijing Normal University, as well as leaders from industrial design government departments and relevant industry associations in provinces such as Jiangsu, Shandong, and Jilin.

The conference officially inaugurated the Rail Transit Vehicle CMF Laboratory of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. and released the "Eternal Visions-Smart Design Industrial Design Platform". The laboratory will integrate aesthetic height, technical depth, and cultural warmth, serving as an important support for enhancing the international competitiveness of China's rail transit equipment. The platform is pioneering in empowering China's high-speed rail, a national名片 (calling card), with cutting-edge technology, highlighting the strategic transformation of Chinese enterprises from "technology appliers" to "technology definers" in the global industrial chain.
At the opening ceremony, the results of the 2025 CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. First "Geek Cup" International Design Challenge were announced. The competition focused on the "Future Metropolitan Train" vehicle design and received enthusiastic responses from global designers. The submitted works fully demonstrated the infinite possibilities of future rail transit. Since its launch in September, the competition has collected 338 entries for the new generation metropolitan train vehicle design from 34 universities in 19 provinces and municipalities. Over 40 outstanding works, including Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Rising Star awards, were announced.
